How to Get Back Into a Healthy Routine: A Simple Morning Reset
There are seasons when your routine just gets off.
Travel. Holidays. A busy stretch at work. Poor sleep. Stress. Taking care of everyone else. Sometimes there isn’t even one big reason—you simply realize that the things that usually help you feel good have slowly disappeared from your day.
And suddenly you’re standing in your kitchen thinking:
I need to get myself back on track.
I know that feeling.
But I’ve learned that getting back into a healthy routine doesn’t mean waiting for Monday so I can “start over” again.
It means finding my rhythm again.
And for me, the easiest place to begin is the morning.
Not with a perfect routine. Not with ten new habits. Just a few simple anchors that remind my body—and honestly, my brain—that I’m taking care of myself again.
Progress is easier to sustain than perfection.
Start With Your Morning, Not Your Whole Life
One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made when I feel off track is trying to fix everything at once.
Eat better.
Drink more water.
Exercise.
Go to bed earlier.
Take my supplements.
Get organized.
And somewhere around day three, the whole thing starts feeling like another job.
By Wednesday, I’m already thinking…
“Okay. I’ll start again Monday.” 😁
Sound familiar?
So now I approach a reset differently.
Instead of asking, “How do I fix everything?”
I ask:
“What are a few things I can re-establish in the morning?”
A reasonably consistent start to the day. Some morning light. Hydration. Nourishment. A little movement.
Nothing revolutionary.
That’s actually the point.
These aren’t hacks. They’re anchors.
Morning Light: One of the Simplest Places to Begin
One thing I try to do when my routine feels off is get some natural light in the morning.
Our bodies use light as one of the environmental signals that helps regulate the sleep-wake cycle. Morning light helps reinforce that it’s daytime and can support a more consistent circadian rhythm.
This doesn’t have to become another complicated wellness rule.
Open the blinds.
Take your coffee outside.
Walk to the mailbox.
Stand on the patio for a few minutes.
I’m much more interested in habits that can become part of real life than routines that only work when everything goes perfectly.
Hydrate — Without Turning Water Into a Wellness Hack
A new Morning habit of mine is
Water before ANYTHING ELSE
Not because I believe a glass of water magically “fires up” my metabolism.
It doesn’t need that job.
After going through the night without drinking, having water in the morning is simply an easy way for me to begin meeting my hydration needs for the day.
Sometimes the most useful wellness habits are the least exciting ones.
They work because you can actually keep doing them.

Nourishment That Works for Your Morning
Myth Buster – Not everyone needs to eat the same breakfast at the same time.
Some people wake up hungry.
Some don’t.
What matters more to me is having a realistic plan for nourishment instead of getting so busy that I suddenly realize it’s noon and I’ve been running on coffee.
For my life, a protein-based Morning Reset Shake works beautifully.
It’s quick. It’s easy. I enjoy it. And because I’ve designed my kitchen around making it easy to prepare, I don’t have to negotiate with myself every morning.
That last part may be more important than the recipe.

My Morning Reset Station (This is How I Started)
I created a small Morning Reset station in my kitchen so the ingredients I use regularly are visible, organized and easy to reach ( I’ve upgraded the look since I took this Pic)
That decision taught me something bigger about habits:
Sometimes the environment matters as much as the intention.
If I have to drag several big containers out of a cabinet, hunt for measuring spoons and clean off the counter before I can make something healthy, coffee is going to win a lot of mornings.
So I removed the friction.
I use a small tray and containers I actually like seeing on my counter. My ingredients stay within reach. My blender is nearby.
It feels inviting instead of complicated.
And that makes the routine easier to repeat.
Design the environment so the better choice becomes the easier choice.
What’s on My Morning Reset Tray
My tray changes occasionally, but the basic idea stays the same:
- Protein powder
- Collagen
- Chia
- Apple cider vinegar
- A few small jars for ingredients I use regularly
- Measuring spoons
- Blender cup
- My favorite morning mug
The specific products aren’t the lesson.
Accessibility is.
But if you’re curious about exactly what I use, I’ll show you that too.
You don’t need my tray or my ingredients.
Build a station around the healthy habit you are trying to make easier.
But If You Want To
See What’s on My Morning Reset Tray
Build a station you actually want to visit every morning.
Glass Teaspoon for Apple Cider Vinegar(glass keeps it reaction free)
Spice Jar 3 PK Acacia wood lid(for salt & cinnamon)
Mason Jars 16oz set of 4 (holds the dry ingredients)
Acacia Wooden 12 in Lazy Susan(for station organization)
Wood teaspoon 2 pk (for measuring dry ingredients)
Nutribullet Personal Blender(for making shakes effortless)
Designing environments That Make Good Choices Easier.
These tools simply make the ingredients easier to use consistently
What Goes Into My Morning Reset Shake?
I don’t make exactly the same shake every morning.
There are a few things I use pretty consistently because they give me a simple structure to work from. But then I look around my kitchen.
What do I have?
What needs to be used?
Maybe there are strawberries getting a little soft. A peach that needs to be eaten today. A piece of melon that is clearly not making it another two days. 😁
Into the blender it goes.
Some of the things you’ll regularly find in my Morning Reset Shake are:
- a protein source;
- collagen;
- chia seeds;
- Greek yogurt when I have it;
- cinnamon;
- a little apple cider vinegar;
- fruit I already have that needs my attention;
- water and ice to bring it all together.
And depending on the day, I may add some of the other things I regularly use in my wellness routine.
NeoraFit Protein Powder(vegan protein very easy to digest keeps you satiated with a amino acid chain mirroring animal protein)
NeoraFit Slim & Skin Collagen Powder(13 types of Collagen including type 17 & 22 marine collagen)
NeoraFit Youth Factor Powder(For Alkaline balance and energy craving control)
Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar(A simple pantry staple I add to my Morning Reset routine)
Chia Seeds(Simple way to add fiber and natural thickness to the Morning Reset Shake)
Unsweetened Almond Milk or Plain Greek Yogurt(for a lighter shake use almond milk & Greek yogurt for a thicker shake)
Cinnamon & Pink Himalayan Sea Salt(optional flavor boosters)
I’m not trying to create the perfect shake every morning.
I’m creating a structure that makes it easy for me to nourish myself before the day gets away from me.
And this is where something I practice in another part of my life naturally shows up here too:
Read your kitchen.
Before buying something else, look at what you already have.
Use the strawberries before they end up in the garbage. Cut up the peach that’s getting too ripe. Give that last piece of melon somewhere useful to go.
The basic structure stays pretty consistent.
The ingredients can flex with real life.
And honestly, that flexibility is one of the reasons this routine has become something I can actually return to.
A Cup of Coffee — But Make It Intentional
I don’t know what happens in your house in the morning,
But…
around here, nothing starts until coffee. 😁
I don’t think wellness needs to turn every pleasure into something we’re supposed to eliminate.
Instead, I like turning my coffee into a small ritual.
Sometimes that means sitting quietly for a few minutes before the day gets noisy.
Or I take it outside and get some morning light.
Sometimes it’s simply the moment when I think about what matters most that day.
The coffee isn’t the health strategy.
The pause is.
⸻
Add a Little Movement
Movement doesn’t have to mean completing a workout before breakfast.
A short walk.
A few stretches.
Working in the garden.
Taking the stairs.
Anything that gently moves you from sleeping into living your day.
I’ve found that when I’m trying to re-establish a routine, lowering the barrier matters.
Ten minutes I’m willing to do is more useful than the 45-minute workout I keep postponing.
⸻
Build the Habit Before You Chase the Result
This may be the biggest lesson I’ve learned.
When we feel like we’ve fallen off track, we’re usually focused on the result we want:
More energy.
Better sleep.
Feeling stronger.
Eating better.
Feeling more comfortable in our skin.
But those results aren’t created by one perfect Monday morning.
They’re built through ordinary choices repeated often enough to become part of life.
And that changes the question.
Instead of:
“How quickly can I get back to where I was?”
Try:
“What can I make easier to repeat tomorrow?”
That’s a very different kind of reset.
⸻
You Don’t Need to Start Over
Real talk…
Resist the urge to overhaul your entire life tomorrow morning.
Choose a few anchors.
Open the blinds.
Drink some water.
Eat something that supports you when you’re ready.
Move your body a little.
Set up your environment tonight so tomorrow’s better choice requires less effort.
Then do it again.
You aren’t starting over.
You’re simply finding your rhythm again.
And sometimes, one small intentional change is enough to begin.
Progress is easier to sustain than perfection.
